Why Buy A White Wardrobe?

There are all sorts of different favourite types of wardrobes from the more popular oak and pine wardrobes to the permanent additions to the house better known as fitted wardrobes. But any or all of these types of wardrobes may belong to a single color category, namely white wardrobes.

Although there is some agreement that wardrobes left in a largely natural wooden state is more appropriate for the traditional look, for a more modern appearance you can buy a white wardrobe. The white wardrobe is also useful if you are trying to find storage for a small room. White can help to make the room appear larger thanks to the light that it brings to the room.

So why are white wardrobes so popular? For exactly the reason stated in the previous paragraph – the lightness they bring into the room. They achieve this by reflecting any light that comes into the room. Smaller rooms especially benefit greatly from the addition of a white wardrobe. They are even more effective if the wardrobe is fitted with a mirror as well.

Modern or contemporary rooms are stylised with white furniture and a white wardrobe gives you that modern look. It is an essential part of giving your room a relevant and up to date look.

A white wardrobe does not necessarily have to be a wardrobe that has been finished with white paint. Although this is certainly one way in which to achieve the finish, it is also possible to create or buy a white wardrobe in other ways.

One of the ways in which to add a white wardrobe to the room is to buy a plastic laminated wardrobe. Many wardrobe doors are made in this type of finish and the most common color for it to be made in is white. Other types of white wardrobes may be made from stainless steel or even aluminium.

The most common way in which a white wardrobe is created is to manufacture the wardrobe in the more traditional materials such as oak or pine and then give it a coat or two of white paint. If you're doing the painting yourself, make sure the paint is a high gloss enamel to provide the shiny finish that will help in reflecting the light.

A white wardrobe might be preferred by anyone who is a fan of the minimalist design style. The basic ideal is that less is more and that extends to color. So that the impact that is being attempted is made more effective, a white wardrobe will not stand out in this kind of room.

Whether the wardrobe shines due to a gloss finish or fades quietly into the background with a matt finish, the color does the job extremely well. The wardrobe may be the more traditional white wardrobe armoire that can look stunning when used on its own, but it is also very sophisticated when painted white.

Another of the more obvious reasons for wanting to buy a white wardrobe is so that it will match the rest of the furniture in the room. White furniture tends to offset the patterns and designs of the soft furnishings in a bedroom and if the rest of the furniture is white then it stands to reason that the wardrobe is going to have to be white as well.

When using other colors to decorate a room it is essential to take extreme care in getting the contrasts right with subtle shades either making or breaking the design. With white wardrobes and the rest of the furniture that uncertainty is taken out of the equation.

A legitimate design style has been based around the use of white furniture these days with shabby chic taking the imagination of a growing audience of people. Buying a white wardrobe sits comfortably within the possibilities that you are participating in the whole shabby chic trend.

There are many reasons for buying and decorating with white wardrobes. They suit just about every modern design style and they can highlight other parts of the room quite nicely.
