One of the pioneers in the compound bow industry has been the Hoyt Archery Company. Today the company produces some of the most popular, most powerful and most reliable compound bows in the industry. The technology that has gone into the progress of the bows has also meant that the company is seen as one of the true innovators in the field.

Each year the new release bows are waited on with a great deal of anticipation and the 2010 bows were no exception. The fact that the company produced a bow, the Hoyt Carbon Matrix, that it hopes will change the face of the industry has possibly divided opinion somewhat, but then, that’s what innovation is meant to do.

The range of Hoyt compound bows for sale is extensive and there are many of used bows avaliable for sale. This will give you the opportunity to pick up a top class compound bow at a fraction of the cost of a new bow. Take a look at the selection of bows for sale below, then you can read a little bit about each of the latest release bows further down.

The Alphamax and Maxxis Bows

One of the company’s most popular hunting bows over the last few years has been the Alphamax. This bow is available in two configurations, the Alphamax 32 and the Alphamax 35 with the difference being the length of the bow from axle to axle. These bows are lightweight and are equipped with a modular adjustable cam using the company’s cam and half technology. Essentially the bow was made with the hunter specifically in mind. The new breed of compound bows from Hoyt has replaced the Alphamax bows with the Maxxis 31 and the Maxxis 35.

The Carbon Matrix

The Carbon Matrix is a super lightweight bow with the riser made of hollow tube carbon featuring O-Tech Technology. Belying the bow’s weight, the frame is incredibly strong and is capable of producing high speeds without any of the vibration you might experience with other bows. This is a premium bow that commands a premium price. Make sure you go out for a test drive to experience this new type of bow.

The Vicxen

Hoyt has also produced a new hunting bow for the female shooters. The bow is called the Vicxen and it is part of the company’s Vicki Ciancarlo signature series. Everything that goes into the other hunting bows has been poured into the Vicxen with the aim of ensuring that the bow is a light in the hand bow that suits the female frame.

The Alphaburner

Every new range of compound bows needs a hard core speed machine and the Hoyt version of this is the Alphaburner. Even the name suggests that its quick and the numbers tell us that it is capable at shooting speeds approaching 340 fps. This kind of power is going to suit the speed freaks out there but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to help accuracy too much. With a brace height of 6” this is a bow for experienced shooters.

The Turbohawk

The new member of the “Hawk” series of bows (Powerhawk, Superhawk) and this is a bow that will suit the lighter framed shooters. The bow is a mid-level bow that slots in at the more affordable end of the market. The bow only weighs 3.75lbs and has a healthy brace height of 7-1/4” making it a reasonably forgiving bow.

This is a bow that has been discontinued from the latest Hoyt releases but it is still a very capable bow. It is also a bow that is very easy to find for sale at extremely reasonable prices.

Target and Junior

Hoyt caters for all standards of shooters with target shooters well catered for with bows such as the Vantage Pro, Vantage Elite and the Vantage Ltd as well as the Contender and the Contender Elite. Young shooters should take a look at the Trykon Jr bow before they graduate to a short draw bow such as the Kobalt.
